Derek W. Rector, President

Derek is the President of Diamax, a Washington DC based software engineering studio and interactive agency that combines creative and technical expertise to produce multichannel communications products and bold digital solutions for associations, international development organizations, public policy institutions, and public sector clients. His digital productions range from enterprise class websites to managed social media initiatives.

A new media expert and technologist with more than 15 years of Internet and information systems experience, Derek co-founded Diamax in 1998 and has since designed or produced more than 200 web applications for organizations such as the World Bank, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, the National Academy of Sciences, the InterAcademy Council, West Point, and the United Nations. As an Internet strategist, he has advised senior leadership in the corporate, academic, non-profit, development, and defense sectors.

Prior to co-founding Diamax, Derek contracted as a computer systems analyst, business analyst, and technology manager for Lockheed Martin and the World Bank. He was responsible for assignments involving manufacturing plant closures, global connectivity for mobile staff, executive information access, knowledge management, and business process automation.

Derek holds a BSc in agriculture with a major in environmental biology from McGill University, and was class valedictorian.

As both an interactive producer and software executive Derek focuses on innovation in digital media as a means to accelerate action on important ideas.
